Coney Island, Winter 2012
One month after Hurricane Sandy reshaped the shore, I found myself with an extra hour in hand, waiting to shoot an assignment. As I walked the area, the storm’s devastation hung in the air. But light never falls on Coney Island without grace—even when its lifeblood: the people, the buzzing storefronts, the familiar metal-on-metal clank of the rides—sat quietly.
This is the first handmade mini photo zine made in my studio. The small format, designed to fit in the palm of a hand, is a nod to the iPhone camera I used that morning.
Each 16-page zine is printed on archival matte photo paper and hand-stitched with lightly-waxed linen thread. Assembled start to finish in my Washington Heights studio.
